Desert Hills Golf Club was opened in January 1979 , designed by Dave Bennett. We went private in 1984, as a Golf Club, as opposed to a typical Country Club, a point we are greatly proud of in that we do not have the overhead of keeping and supporting the overhead of a restaurant. A fully stocked, licensed Bar supplies sandwiches, snacks and drinks. Special functions, such as dinners and dances are catered by local restaurants.
In 1998 the membership approved the replacement of all Greens, in 1999 an expansion of the Clubhouse was approved and completed. All improvements were completed within budget. We now operate debt free. Our elected Board of Directors maintain tight control over expenses, being on zero based budgeting with neither a planned profit or loss.
The course consists of 120 acres, including 4 lakes covering 6 acres. Fairways and rough are Bermuda #419 Tifway Hybrid. Greens are now Tifdwarf Bermuda, and are considered the best in the area. A fully functional practice facility and driving range are available to members and guests.
